Hello Chapter 1101,
As we are approaching our Heart Walk for this Saturday 9/27/25, I wanted to reach out and provide some information about our plan on where to meet and when, as well as share additional information from AHA Heart Walk. Please read this announcement in its entirety and be sure to see "UPDATE INFORMATION" below.
*This information will be provided at our monthly September meeting, which will be at the Palm Restaurant on 9/25/25. Be sure to look at the "September 2025 Monthly Meeting" announcement for details!*
DETAILS IN THE WALK:
I have attached the flyer for the Heart Walk. The walk is scheduled for the event “door” to open at 7 AM and the walk to start at 8 AM. The annual Heart Walk lasts for about 3 hours, so it the event will end at 11 AM. Please keep that in mind as the city will be closing off areas for the walk, but they will need to re-open these areas following the walk.
The walk this year is about 2.4 miles, and I have attached the “route map” to this email as well. Each person will have their own pace for walking so some may finish sooner than others. In addition, I have also attached "transportation information."
Please note: According to AHA Heart Walk, if you chose to park in the deck, parking is free for 2 hours. After that, you are responsible for any additional payments. AORN Chapter 1101 WILL NOT be providing validations for parking.
WHERE TO MEET AND WHEN:
Furthermore, we are planning to have our team meet at the Yard House. I have circled an estimated location of this restaurant on the route map. They do offer food and drinks, and I think it will be a great place to have a “post walk event/education.” Eric Brown with Change Surgical has graciously accepted to provide Chapter 1101 and Peach State Chapter with post-walk education. The address for the Yard House is provided below.
Yard House - Atlantic station
261 19th St NW #1100
Atlanta, GA 30363
Chapter 1101 and Peach State Chapter will meet in front of the restaurant at 7:30 AM for a group picture! If you placed a T-shirt order with David Reinhart, they will be distributed at this time! We plan to have the group meet at the Yard House before and after the walk.
***UPDATE INFORMATION FROM AHA HEART WALK FOR REGISTERED WALKERS:
***The content below has been forward from AHA Heart Walk Director with the intention to share important information pertaining to the Heart Walk for registered walkers!***
Coaches—
We’re just days away from the Greater Atlanta Heart Walk – happening this Saturday, 9/27, at Atlantic Station, and we couldn’t be more excited to see you there! Please forward this message along to your teammates who have registered, and to any family and friends who might want to participate.
Your participation is helping to save lives and make a lasting impact in our community. Please take a moment to review the Heart Walk Experience Guide for everything you need to know about walk day – from arrival times to activities and route details.
Parking & Arrival Tips
- Parking Garage Info: Everyone parking in the garage will need to take a ticket upon entry.
- Expect Traffic: There will be congestion on the way in. Please plan accordingly and consider carpooling or using rideshare to help ease traffic.
Bring Your Own Water Bottle!
To be more conscious of waste, we encourage all participants to bring a reusable water bottle. Water refilling stations will be available throughout the event.
The Heart Walk exists to fund critical research, education, and community programs that fight heart disease and stroke. Thanks to your efforts, we’re making a difference – but we’re not at our fundraising goal yet.
Let’s close the gap together! Here’s how you can stretch your lifesaving impact:
Be a RED Walker:
- R – Register if you haven’t yet. Invite your family and friends to register and walk with you!
- E – Engage by sharing your story and personal fundraising link on social media using tools in the Heart Walk HQ. Send 5 personal texts or emails to invite others to donate to support your efforts.
-
D – Donate to kickstart or boost your fundraising. Don’t forget to check if your employer offers matching gifts to double your impact!
As an added incentive, any Community Team member who becomes a RED Walker by 11:59pm tomorrow (Thursday, 9/25), will be entered to win a Stanley water bottle—the perfect companion for Heart Walk day!
Together, we’re walking toward a world free of heart disease and stroke. Thank you for being a lifesaver.
See you Saturday!
